CASTAC is seeking nominations for Co-Chair candidates for 2024 (to start shadowing co-chairs Svetlana Borodina and Nicole Taylor in mid-January). Please send nominations to co-chairs@castac.org by November 20, 2023.
Nominations should include:
- Candidate’s name, title, and affiliation
- Past and current involvement with CASTAC, as applicable
- 2-3 lines describing what you would like to do/work on/continue/build with CASTAC
At times there are multiple excellent candidates to choose between. If multiple candidates qualify according to the CASTAC rules, CASTAC list members will vote to decide who will take the Co-Chair position.
As a reminder:
- Co-chair terms run for roughly three years, and this one would begin in mid-January 2024 and conclude at the end of 2026.
- Some of the past and present duties of the CASTAC co-chairs include:
- organizing social events, member initiatives, and panels at the AAAs
- administering the CASTAC listserv in conjunction with the AAA and working with CASTAC’s web producer to ensure that the website and directory runs smoothly
- working with the CASTAC blog editor to ensure a steady stream of content on the blog, including occasional messages from the Co-Chairs
- convening award committees for the Diana Forsythe Prize and David Hakken Student Paper Prize
- liaising with the General Anthropology Division, CASTAC’s parent section, on budget and programming concerns and attending board meetings at the AAAs (some funding support from GAD is available for meeting travel)
- working with CASTAC members (and members of related organizations) to develop new programming
